"Judgment Day is on its way," Bishop Robert Herman of the Archdiocese of St. Louis wrote last week in the St. Louis Review. "For many, this coming election may very well be judgment day, for this election will measure us . . . More than anything else, this election is about saving our children or killing our children. This life issue is the overriding issue facing each of us in this coming election. All other issues, including the economy, have to take second place to the issue of life."
Any Christian feeling the "pressure" about who to vote for next Tuesday?
Contrary to some e-mails I receive, my mistrust with Barack Obama has nothing to do with race or conspiracy theories. Let's face it; if this were truly a racist nation, Obama could not have come this far. No, these are not issues I am concerned with...
...I cannot vote for Obama because I am a Christian woman.
For me, being Christian is not about being popular; being Christian is about following Jesus Christ and I don't believe that Jesus agrees with many of Obama's positions...
...especially his position on abortion in which he voted against on the infanticide bill and banning partial birth abortions.
In February 2004, U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the "alarming news" that "right-wing politicians" had passed a law stopping doctors from stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls.
Michelle called partial-birth abortion "a legitimate medical procedure," and asked if supporters would please pay $150 to attend a luncheon for her husband, who would fight against "cynical ploy[s]" to stop it?
Sorry I missed that luncheon...
Let's take a closer look at the 5 step partial birth abortion procedure Mr. Obama wanted to continue:
1. Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby's leg with forceps. (Remember this is a live baby)
2. The baby's leg is pulled out into the birth canal.
3. The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head.
4. The abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole.
5. The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child's brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.
May God help him. Barack Obama also opposed the parental notification law. Imagine this: You can't give a minor an aspirin without parental notification but that same minor can have an abortion without parental notification. This is utter insanity.
Jesus never promised us a rose garden devoid of hard choices. He did, in fact, tell us that if we were to be his followers, we must pick up the cross daily and follow Him. I believe that part of the cross in this upcoming election may well be in realizing how many of us will actually be willing to follow Him.
'Nuff said on this topic, now its up for America to decide. May God help us during these perilous times.
