Take Action: NBC Refuses to Air Pro-Life Ad during Super Bowl NBC will not air a pro-life ad during the Super Bowl, even though it considered a sexual ad from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
The pro-life ad, created by CatholicVote.org, portrays President Barack Obama as a pre-born baby. It features images of a child in uterous set to music and reads:
"The child's future is a broken home. He will be abandoned by his father. His single mother will struggle to raise him.
"Despite the hardships he will endure, this child will become the first African-American president."
Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, said: "In reality, these 41 seconds do more to inspire than the hundreds of other Super Bowl ads that use sex and alcohol to wow viewers. It's ironic that producers pull out the rule book when they want to police traditional values."
While the life ad was rejected because it is political, PETA simply was told to make a few edits to its ad.

Prior to the birth of my daughter in 1999, I had had four miscarriages. I not only mourned my losses, I also named each child: Timothy, Luke, Isabel and Gabriel.
To this day, I not only think about them but also rejoice for their safety in Paradise. I know they reside among the living and are loved.
Years before, I had also conceived through a violent rape but miscarried that child as well. His name was Jesse, and, like the others, I think about him often.
For me, I have never questioned when life begins; it’s always been a gift to be respected and cherished regardless of circumstances. I don’t believe that Christianity is a requirement for being pro-life since this issue is fundamentally about the decency and dignity of all human life. I do, however, personally believe it is only God’s job alone to give and take life.
At the very moment I am writing this, I think of the division within our country as well as our new administration. Certainly being “pro-life” immediately alienates me from this new administration, and while I can’t condone our president’s policies on abortion, I know I am called to pray for him and those who share his beliefs.
Will this new administration be an asset for our nation? I really don’t know… I hope so, but don’t know....
I do know, however, that our president had made it known that, upon taking office, he would remove all federal restrictions on funding embryonic stem-cell research. While Obama has already reversed the Mexican City Order, he also intends to sign the Freedom of Choice Act. Seldom has our nation ever been confronted with such an extreme measure.
The Freedom of Choice Act will invalidate for the entire country all restrictions on abortion before viability, including parental notification, waiting periods and partial-birth abortion bans. President Obama has no problem supporting legislation that would even kill a child who survived a botched abortion.
For Christians, if at this stage our anger is directed at President Obama then our anger is misdirected. Obama is not the enemy. He needs and deserves our prayers, not our condemnation.
As Christians, it is important to know that we are not without guilt. In our Supreme Court and Congress there are many professed Christians who have compromised the fundamental truths of Christianity. This past November, over 50 percent of our electorate voted for a president who is one of the most liberal pro-choice candidates run for the highest office of the land.
In order to bring about a transformation in our nation from “a culture of death to a culture of life,” we must first restore our own personal Christian identities and bravely live our lives in such a way that will bear true witness to what we profess to believe in and live by.
We must be conscious that the moral framework of our beliefs hardly ever fit the ideologies of any political party. Our values are often not "politically correct" but, as true believers, it is not only our right, but our responsibility to speak out on moral issues that go against our God’s teachings.
How many of us really believe what we say we believe in? At the risk of being unpopular, and if we really believe, then we must choose to be “politically in-correct” in order make a difference.
Within this cultural war we are living in, are we truly willing to take “the road less traveled?”
Prayer To End Abortion Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. President Barack Obama got the $825 (or $1.2 trillion over a decade) stimulus package through the House of Representatives but the 244 to 188 vote is a hollow victory indeed. Without a single Republican voting for the bill, his high-profile visit to Capitol Hill on Tuesday came to exactly naught - at least on the House side.
Obama vowed to change Washington and usher in a new post-partisan era. The the mood music and optics were pitch perfect as he trekked up to the Hill. Republicans praised his gesture, welcomed his sincere demeanour and appreciated his willingness to listen.
Problem was, he wanted only to listen and did not want to act on what Republicans said. When he was asked if he would re-structure the package to include more tax cuts, he reportedly responded: "Feel free to whack me over the head because I probably will not compromise on that part."
He apparently added: "I understand that and I will watch you on Fox News and feel bad about myself." (Read Toby Harnden's full story here)

The only hope for our America is God.

The 647-page, $825 billion House legislation is being sold as an economic "stimulus". This is a political wonder that manages to spend money on just about every pent-up Democratic proposal of the last 40 years.(To read entire stimulus bill click here.)
According to the Wall Street Journal, there's $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn't turned a profit in 40 years; $2 billion for child-care subsidies; $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts; $400 million for global-warming research and another $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects. There's even $650 million on top of the billions already doled out to pay for digital TV conversion coupons.

ETSpeaker of the House Nancy Pelosi boldly defended a move to add birth control funding to the new economic "stimulus" package, claiming "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."
Pelosi, the mother of 5 children and 6 grandchildren, who once said, "Nothing in my life will ever, ever compare to being a mom," seemed to imply babies are somehow a burden on the treasury. The revelation came during an exchange Sunday morning on ABC’s This Week.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?
PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?
PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

Although, President Obama was sent a personal invitation from “March for Life’s” President and Founder, Nellie Gray, to attend this year’s event, he was a no show.

Washington, DC, January 15 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The next time you stare down a conveyor belt of slow-moving, hot, sugary glazed donuts at your local Krispy Kreme you just might be supporting President-elect Barack Obama's radical support for abortion on demand – including his sweeping promise to sign the Freedom of Choice Act as soon as he steps in the Oval Office, Jan. 20.
The doughnut giant released the following statement yesterday:
“Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. By doing so, participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide are making an oath to tasty goodies -- just another reminder of how oh-so-sweet ‘free’ can be.”
Just an unfortunate choice of words? For the sake of our Wednesday morning doughnut runs, we hope so. The unfortunate reality of a post Roe v. Wade America is that "choice" is synonymous with abortion access and celebration of 'freedom of choice' is a tacit endorsement of abortion rights on demand.
President-elect Barack Obama promises to be the most virulently pro-abortion president in history. Millions more children will be endangered by his radical abortion agenda.
Celebrating his inauguration with "Freedom of Choice" doughnuts – only two days before the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision to decriminalize abortion – is not only extremely tacky, it's disrespectful and insensitive and makes a mockery of a national tragedy.

We have passed the threshold into one of the most important weeks in American history, and a convergence of three very important celebrations reminds us of it. Yesterday we celebrated the remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, who worked so heroically and tirelessly to insure that all men and women might share in the American dream equally. Today we celebrate the inauguration of the first African American president, Barack Obama. That an African American can be so elected is indeed a cause to celebrate. However, Thursday we pray and do penance on the anniversary of the most infamous court decision in United States history, Roe v. Wade. All three are related.
Dr. King fought long and hard and suffered many things that all men and women in the United States of America might enjoy those truths that we hold to be self evident: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. He was an American hero for so doing. This week we should rightly celebrate the fact that an African American can be and has been elected President of the United States. This is surely progress, both political and moral.
This all being said, it has to plague the conscience of any thinking person that in this country there is yet the most immoral and deadly form of prejudice and persecution imaginable against the most innocent and vulnerable class of human beings—the unwanted unborn. No matter what advances this country makes, moral, economic, social, or technological, so long as that blight on our national identity remains, all else will ultimately pale into relative insignificance.
God is not a disinterested spectator in the affairs of man. He knows every child by name from all eternity. He loves each one with His infinite love. God’s holy Catholic Church teaches that abortion in a single case is homicide. I assert that if this is the case, and it is, then the 50,000,000 homicides through abortion that have taken place in the United States since Roe v. Wade constitute genocide. God will not favor such a country, regardless of any other progress. Unless this outrage against God and humanity is stopped very soon, the United States of America, and in turn all of the Western world, will realize the death wish that it has manifest for several decades.
Every Catholic, Christian, Jew, and all people of good will and right reason must pray and do penance rigorously and daily from now on for the defeat of this heinous evil we call abortion. If we fail, then Western society as we know it will soon collide with a disaster it will not survive.

God of power and might, wisdom and justice, through you authority is rightly administered, laws are enacted, and judgment is decreed. Assist with your spirit of counsel and fortitude the President and other government leaders of these United States. May they always seek the ways of righteousness, justice and mercy. Grant that they may be enabled by your powerful protection to lead our country with honesty and integrity. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
I pray also, Father God, that Obama's fight for equality extends to the fundamental right to life especially for the protection of our unborn babies. May the Holy Spirit gently guide and convict our new President so that America is guided by the same God of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
