The Gospel: Too "Risky"?

Posted by Judi Lynn Lake at 09:14
Not too long ago, I was accused of being judgmental and spreading hatred within a writing community I was favorably associated with for a few years. The owner of the site had given me a choice: either "go light" or "get out". Although saddened with the sudden chastisement, my choice is obvious: for me, there are no compromises to be made when it comes to God and salvation. I have never penned any writings for popularity and don’t intend to start now.

I can live with man’s anger but not God’s. As the world blindly modernizes our Lord, it is important to remember that God is the same God of yesterday, today and tomorrow. He’s never changed; it is man who consistently changes.

The past presidential campaign has created much division yet opened my eyes to the many “sins of our nation.” In despair, my spirit cries out for our land and her people. We have become “an anything goes” society that has sold out and closed the door on the only road to our freedom.

The American people have made it abundantly clear who they want to lead them, and the policies and practices that our president-elect has represented for some time, they can now claim as their own. Actions, however, have consequences, and I am sure God has duly noted what our priorities are in America. Economic matters seem to have taken precedence over moral matters; money more important than life itself to most including a great number of professed Christians.

Now we shall see what the fruit of such a tree will be. I predict that we won’t have to wait long. In recent months we have seen “corrections” in the stock market, housing market, and banking industries. Now we’ll see if God orchestrates a “correction” in a country and a world that has demonstrated quite clearly that it prefers convenience and wealth to life itself.

As we approach Inauguration Day, I believe that, for most, the Gospel is much too "risky" to be taken literally. The voting results have already proven that with our new liberal leaders. If President-Elect Obama is true to his promises, America is in trouble beginning with The Freedom of Choice Act.

When have we become a Nation of Compromise? Where has our backbone gone? Why are Christians fighting against each other instead of uniting for the just causes of humanity?

America has sold out and many Christians are interpreting the Gospel to suit their own personal lives. I truly believe that the Gospel is too "risky" for many because the words are very clear and God does not want, nor needs, lukewarm followers. Sadly, many Christians close their ears to the unchanging truths in the Gospel and never move forward.

If there were less lukewarm Christians, I believe we would be a holy nation. I firmly believe it is not possible to live the Gospel in a superficial manner; it is "risky" to read the Gospel because it makes demands on each and every one of us that we are clearly unwilling to do.

If America were a Nation seeking Truth, we would have never elected a President who has stated that one of his first tasks once in office will be to sign The Freedom of Choice Act.

And knowing that, we still voted for him…

And we still expect God to bless us?

C’mon, let’s get real.

We live in extremely perilous times. For me, the fundamental point in our spiritual life is to have strength – Divine strength – within us regardless of circumstances. If we do not have the Divine strength that comes from Jesus Christ, we are the destroyers of those around us.

If we, as believers, only read the Gospel as words then it is empty and can have no true meaning. The Gospel without Divine strength is not worth anything and appears to echo the words of all philosophers. With Divine strength, however, comes energy and wisdom that carries us forward.

The only real "change" for America must humbly begin with each and every one of us on a personal level. If we truly profess to be followers of the Lord, then the Gospel must become a part of us and be transformed into practice. As we make progress with praying and living the true Gospel, horizons will open and God will finally be with us.

I have already stated that the Gospel is too "risky" for most of us in America. If we open up any page within the Gospel, it is evident that we have run away from it and really don’t want God in our lives or our land. Once His word enters deep within us, Redemption and Salvation are born.

Regardless of whatever happens next, let us remember there is still a God in Heaven who loves us. He is infinitely merciful—and He is infinitely just as well.

"If we truly profess to be followers of the Lord, then the Gospel must become a part of us and be transformed into practice." I just posted to this today on another site. As you already know, I happen to view what is happening as fulfillment. It happened in the 1930' with Poland and Abortion and it is happening here. We have allowed in our law, our way of life to accept eveil and we will
reap what we sow. Best wishes and good Job, RTM

AMEN! I am with you sister. Unless we the true believers begin to preach the truth and our nation changes, we will truely reap the wrath that we deserve. Our nation has clearly choosen the wide path and not the narrow. We will soon see our nation become "One nation under many Gods" and the Almighty will not tollerate it. We as His people must become firm as steel in what we believe so we don't falter.

God Bless!

Judi, the message of jesus Christ is not for all but for those names are written in the book of life, true believers. Now the mesage goes forth as you do and some take it, some don't, choice. So a person is either of the world or in it. Quite a difference. If we are of the world, any message concerning the Lord falls on deaf ears, but of we are in the world but not of the world we seek Gods voice at all times. Yes even those who do not know Himarfe drawn to His voice. That is why even unbelievrs come to the site, to seek God. Best Wishes as always.
