The Dark Side of Porn: Choosing Darkness

Posted by Judi Lynn Lake at 13:28
“There comes a moment in everyone’s life when a choice must be made between right and wrong, between good and evil, between light and darkness. These decisions are made in an instant, but with repercussions that last a lifetime. My troubles began the day I chose the darkness – the day I chose Jack….

…At age sixteen…suddenly I transformed from a homely wallflower to a full-bodied woman who turned heads. It was every father’s nightmare…”

How to Make Love Like a Porn Star:
A Cautionary Tale,
by Jenna Jameson (Harper Collins, 2004)

In case the name doesn’t ring a bell, Jenna Marie Massoli, aka Jenna Jameson, is the most powerful woman in the adult hardcore porn industry. Recently retired from adult movies, this savvy businesswoman boldly started her own mega production company, Club Jenna, Inc., and has rivaled the best players in the porn industry.

Once considered taboo and a “low life” industry, Jenna somehow managed to successfully cross over from her hardcore background into mainstream media. Her popularity soared and her acceptance into the mainstream continues unabated.

Though warning prospective actresses about the perils of the adult industry, Jameson has debated the merits of porn on society, most notably on “The “O’Reilly Factor” (Fox News, 1996- ) with host Bill O’Reilly.

Following is Jenna’s 2008 interview with Bill O’Reilly (courtesy of You Tube):

It’s interesting, and sad, how numb society has become. Not too long ago, burlesque was considered risqué yet, today, hard-core pornography is considered to be a form of empowerment that has a positive influence on society.

And so it goes when a society looses its morals and turns into “an anything goes” society – there is really no such thing as right and wrong anymore.

Or is there?

During his last interview with Dr. James Dobson, in 1989, hours before his execution, serial-killer, Ted Bundy describes the horrific, dark influence porn had on his life (video courtesy of You Tube):

Regardless of where society is going (or has gone) there still must be standards of what is right and what is wrong. If not adhered, we stand for nothing and have nothing to pass onto our children.

For me, that’s not good enough.

I think Jenna’s beginning excerpt sums things up perfectly:
There comes a moment in everyone’s life when a choice must be made between right and wrong, between good and evil, between light and darkness…
Yes, Jenna, thank you. I do believe it all has to do with choice.

And so we have before us the fruits of a God-less society.

Nice post. But I believe the title is a bit misleading ... There is no dark side to porn, the whole thing is dark and from hell.
